Wishing to highlight the importance of Mahmoud Darwich’s work to a teenage audience, the Mahmoud Darwich Chair has developed a teaching project for four classes in Brussels and Wallonia. “Absent geography”, reflecting the universal concept of Mahmoud Darwich’s “lost geography” is the guiding theme of the project.
The teaching project extends over the year 2018-19, from September to May, and gives pupils a cultural season – comprising a documentary, a concert, drama, literature and film —and an artistic activity. The latter is run by an artist working with each class— video, photography or dance —in an aim to create a joint production for the Bozar “Next generation please” festival, in May 2019.
